How to Choose Books on Building Self-Confidence

from:

There are many self-help books on how to build self-confidence out there. And these books certainly give you several answers. The problem is, with all the books in line, you simply do not know where to begin and what to pick. To help you on this, here are some of the tips that would help you pick the right book for your specific need.

- Pinpoint the area of the problem

Doctors need to diagnose patients in order to give the right medicine. And just like doctors, you need to do self-diagnosis on your case because there are several books that tackle different issues, which might not be the right one for you. For example, if your problem is your shyness and social anxiety or if you want to improve your self-esteem, then, you should opt to but books that would discuss these issues.

Be careful on the book you pick. Avoid basing your choice on the title alone. You might end up taking home the wrong one. To be sure, read the overview of the book. There are bookstores that allow costumers to scan the pages the books. You can utilize thin on your advantage.

- Consider the author

If you have been buying self-help books for some time, you might have favorite authors or you might have idea which author is better and which author is not. But if you are a first timer, you should carefully consider the author by its credibility. There is the "about the author" corner on the back of the book so you may want to read it first before checking the book out of the counter.

- Ask professional help

Seeking help on choosing what specific book can help you best is another way to do it. If you have undergoing counseling, then ask your therapist to point you to the right book that would further help you build your self-confidence. You might be fortunate if your therapist writes books; but make sure the topic discusses your problem area.

- Do research on the internet

If you want to make sure that you get the right book, the internet is the best place do some research. There are several sites that offer reviews on the different psychology books and texts published. Or, if you want, you can buy directly over the internet. It would save you a lot of time.

- Consider the price

There are books that would cost $10 a copy and there are books that cost as much as $40 a copy. There could be a big difference between the contents of these books but the point is, you should not conclude which one is better by judging it from the price tag.

At this point, you surely have an idea what to look for a book, but still, you have to bear in mind reading self-help books is not an assurance that you can build your self-confidence. You need to work for it. You have to apply in real life every good thing you have learned to the book you have chosen. Do not depend everything on the book. They are there as a guide when you decide to make changes in your life (inside and out).

Always remember that books are still not the solution, you are.
