The importance of having good communication skills is clearly evident in the world today. Misunderstandings abound. In the past, people who get misunderstood got a chance to explain their meaning. But in today's society, a person who is misunderstood often has his/her reputation ruined, despite all of the justification and explanation he/she makes. In fact, because of the violence in today's streets, people who are misunderstood may even end up dead.
Of course, some people may call this claim a little paranoid. But have you ever tried reasoning to a gang? In this type of situation, having good communication skills could save your life.
The power of good communication skills lies from understanding. Of course, some people may point out that understanding is an inherent part of communication. However, what the first statement meant was that a person needs to understand that people interpret things differently.
